Duplex-process

The voestalpine eifeler Vacotec PVD coating systems alpha400P and alpha900P can be optionally equipped with a plasma source.
This plasma source can be used for different processes: Plasma preparation of surfaces, nitriding of steel substrates.

A significant advantage is that the eifeler PVD duplex processes can be implemented with the plasma source! In this case the tools are coated after the plasma nitriding with a PVD hard wear resistant coating without the system being vented. The plasma nitriding process was developed especially not to influence the surface quality of the tools. In particular, the formation of a disturbing compound layer is completely suppressed.

Particularly for forming tools, an enormous increase in performance is achieved with the aid of the duplex process. The function of this effect increases the adhesion of the hard and brittle PVD coating on the nitrided surface.
The toughness of the base material is not influenced.
